For Immediate Release
The Sutton
Place Hotel participates in 3rd Annual "Earth
Hour"
Vancouver, BC (March 12th, 2009)
-
On Saturday, March 28th, 2009, The Sutton Place
Grande Hotels Group will once again be doing its
part in the fight against global warming by
participating in the 3rd Annual “Earth Hour”, an
event that brings together people and businesses
around the world to raise awareness about
climate change and global warming.
“We understand that the goal for this year’s
Earth Hour is to have 1 billion people switch
off their lights as part of a global vote,”
says John Sandor, General Manager of The Sutton
Place Hotel Vancouver. “Our four Sutton Place
Hotel properties participating is a small way
for us to contribute to achieving this goal and
proves that we want to take control of the
future of our planet.”
For the second year in a row, The Sutton Place
Grande Hotels Group will play a role by turning
off the lights in the building for one hour at
8:30pm PST on Saturday, March 28th,
2009. Hotel guests will also be invited to
participate by switching off all non-essential
lighting, computers, televisions and appliances
during that particular hour.
Earth Hour, coordinated by the World Wildlife
Fund (WWF), originated in March 2007 in Sydney,
Australia, when 2.2 million homes and businesses
switched off their lights for one hour. By the
following year the message had grown into a
global sustainability movement, with 50 million
people switching off their lights.
