Appoints New Fleuri Restaurant Chef
Vancouver, BC (October 16th, 2009)

It is with great pleasure that the Fleuri
Restaurant at The Sutton Place Hotel announces
the promotion of former Banquet Chef, Robert
Uy, to the position of Restaurant Chef.
"I am absolutely thrilled about the
opportunities that being Restaurant Chef
presents," says Robert Uy. "The Sutton
Place culinary team is so talented and I look
forward to working with them all to create new
and innovative menus for our hotel guests."
Robert graduated from the Art Institute of
Vancouver - Dubrulle Culinary Arts in 1995 with
honours. Shortly thereafter, he began his
career in the hotel industry with the
Renaissance Hotel, where he worked as Chef de
Partie for 9 years. During this time, he was
given the opportunity to travel to Hamburg,
Germany on an exchange program to promote
Canadian cuisine, emphasizing local ingredients.
From there, he has held positions as Sous Chef
with the Sheraton Wall Centre and First Cook at
The Westin Bayshore
Robert started with The Sutton Place Hotel in
October 2006. In his new role, he will lead
the already successful culinary brigade
and oversee all restaurant staff operations. In
addition to this, Robert will also play a key
role in the recently announced re-designing of
the Fleuri Restaurant, which is scheduled to
begin at the end of this month. Not only will
the overall aesthetics of the restaurant be
improved on, but Robert will also be introducing
a fresh new menu which will have a progressive
Pacific Northwest focus. Stay tuned for more
